How are you? I recently asked a friend of mine that question and he responded with, “do you really want to know or do you just want the standard answer?”.

We all know that the standard answers to the question “how are you?” are, “not bad”, or “I’m fine”.  But how often when we ask the question “how are you?” do we really want to know how the other person is doing, and how often do we answer honestly when we are asked that question?

I’m so thankful that our Lord and Saviour Jesus not only wants to know how we are doing, but He wants us to bring all of our cares, worries, and burdens to Him.

This last May we held our 2nd annual Virtual Fundraiser with our guest speaker Michael Thom, radio host from CHVN.  Michael shared his incredible testimony and spoke directly to this issue from Matthew 11:28 – 30. You can watch his testimony here.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Wow!  Not only does Jesus invite us to bring our burdens to Him, but He promises to give us rest and to help us with the load we’re carrying.

How are you?  Are you weary and burdened?  Does your soul need a rest from all the chaos in the world right now?  As we fully head into summer my hope and prayer for you is that you’re able to get a break from all your troubles, and to find rest for your soul.

Thank you for your prayers and faithfulness to PCC, and may God bless you and keep you and your families this summer!
