One of our counsellors recently informed me that I will have experienced 50 summers. It took me a moment, but I realized that she was referring to my recent birthday in which I reached that numeric milestone in my life. 50 years old! Wow, how did that happen?

As i’ve been pondering thing 50 and what that means, the words from Psalm23 came to mind. Specifically the words of the Psalmist, “Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life”. This is David’s conclusion near the end of the Psalm because prior to this statement, David makes his case as to why he can have this assurance. And that case is regardless of David’s circumstances, his Heavenly Father is right there with him in good times and bad times.

Life David, I’m sure most of us can relate to experiencing both good times and bad. But as I take inventory of my life over the last 50 plus years, I can conclude like David, that “surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life”.

This conclusion is not based on my circumstances, or what’s going on in the world, but on the love and commitment of our Heavenly Father to us. My prayer for you is that you will experience that same comfort and assurance as well.

As we enter into summer, I want to thank you for your faithfulness to the work and ministry of Pembina Counselling Centre. As the demand for our services continue to grow, so too do our opportunities for outreach in the community. We would not be able to do this without your support. Thank you and may the Lord bless you!
